FBIndexTM

Reducing the Risk in Film Finance

The FBIndexTM (Film Business Intelligence) is the first of its kind benchmark to distinguish projects that have a high probability of success from others whose characteristics suggest a high probability of failure. Think of it as the credit score for the film finance industry.

Along with the entire FilmSoftTM suite of analytical tools, our FBIndexTM is designed to help investors, filmmakers, and distributors evaluate and take the financial risk out of the financing equation while maintaining the upside potential film investments have to offer.

We use a powerful and tested proprietary statistical algorithm that measures and evaluates a broad array of critical elements that the FBIndexTM further breaks down the financial risk into four distinct categories. The value proposition built into the design of the FBIndexTM is its enormous flexibility. For example, if a project does not initially score well, you have the opportunity to change some of the elements to produce a more acceptable profile; thereby creating a more viable project from a financial point of view.

Poor 350-619

A Poor risk profile suggest that the characteristics of this film project as currently constructed has a high probability of failing to return its budget back to investors within a reasonable period of time. We define a reasonable period of time as 48 months. An investor/filmmaker should approach with caution before going forward with this project.

Fair 620-659

A project that scores within the parameters of a Fair risk profile is one that has an even probability of returning investor funds within a reasonable period of time. This quality of project should be balanced with sound judgment and evaluation of other potential projects that have a lower risk profile.

Good 660-749

A risk profile of Good is one that possesses characteristics that have been deemed to contain elements that suggest the prospects of failure have been reasonably reduced. This is the lowest score we would deem worthy of a greenlight.

Excellent 750-850

These project characteristics are of the highest quality. A rating score of Excellent has all the key elements in combination that suggest the risk of failure have been substantially reduced. From a financial standpoint, this project is a go.

Disclaimer:

Not all film projects should be financed. FILMBANKERSInternational does not warrant or guarantee that any/or all projects will be successful. There are other factors that are beyond the score of the FBIndexTM that help determine failure or success. Some of these factors (but not all) are audience appeal, competition, production values, or force majeure.
